I brought her home to get us ready for lunch, but then remembered that "WHAT A BAGEL" gives a dozen free bagels on your birthday. Poor SR had to be dragged away from her toys kicking and screaming b/c I figured after lunch they would be closing and have no bagels left. She started to throw what I thought was her first REAL temper tantrum, complete with tears. But I offered her some of my mom's banana-blueberry muffin that my mom made for me for my birthday (complete with all the fat - we always substitute everything in a recipe, but she knows they taste better with everything in, and so for my birthday and pregnancy she kept the recipe whole). I eventually got SR to put on her hat/scarf/jacket/boots giving her one bite of muffin and then putting on her clothes. And the place is literally across the street from Monkeynastix, so we could have gone there right after class if I had remembered. Once out of the house and at the bagel place, SR was great and looked without touching, which I was worried about b/c all of the bagels are open to help yourself. Then home for fresh bagels and cream cheese for lunch before I put her down for a nap.
Now I'm supposed to be working on report cards....I don't want to do them. But I have less than a week until they are do and so much to do.
Part of me feels I should have asked some people to go for an early dinner (with SR of course) to celebrate, but I'm feeling crummy so why bother. It's the Sabbath and my parents are observant Jews, so I won't see them today or celebrate with them. We have my cousins' birthday parties tomorrow (age 1 and 3)...I don't know them at all even though their father is my first cousin, and so when SR wakes up from her nap we will head out to buy gifts. But b/c of that b-day party, it's almost a waste to go out for dinner tomorrow for my birthday party - not to mention that it has to be to a Kosher Restaurant for my parents, but that's okay - it's about being together.
Okay, off to
Happy Birthday! Glad you have SR to celebrate with you - I hope she's given you lots of hugs and birthday kisses!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't do any reports on your birthday. :)
Happy birthday! Don't do report cards on your birthday! Hope you find some time soon for a birthday dinner!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I've had quite a few very low key birthdays in the past few years, they are nice in their own way. But yes, I do always feel like I should be doing something more to celebrate. Yay for free bagels, at least!
