She scared the heebee jeebees out of me...

SR has been wonderful at staying in bed.  Since starting in the toddler bed during Easter Weekend, she has never once gotten out.  I have made it very clear that she is to stay in bed and call me if needed.  I even started showering while she is still awake to make sure that she isn't calling me while I'm in the shower and I then can't get to her if she needs me.

So tonight, I'm sitting on the couch and procrastinating my report cards and watching the (cough cough) Bachelorette premier, and I heard a knock at my door...this scares me b/c I expect to know who is coming, especially living in a condo with security.  I ran to the door and called out "who is it?" but there was no answer.  I thought it might be my neighbour across the hall, but I thought she would have texted first...or my dad who may have had something to bring to me.

My heart was racing and I came back to the couch.  Then it sounded like the door was being opened...I had just checked and my bolt lock was on and so was the flap lock that I have added on.  I was terrified that someone was trying to break in - or that it was my dad and he didn't realize that he can't come in when the flap lock thing was still on.  But again, no one was there.

Then SR opened her door and said, "Mommy?"  It was SR knocking on her door and then opening her door - it's a game we play during the day where she goes in her room and shuts the door and knocks and I call out, "who is it?" and she opens the door and calls her name.  But at night when she's never done that before...I was shaking.

I stayed calm on the surface and told her that she had to stay in bed and say "mommy, I need you" if she needed me and I would come...so she climbed into bed and I closed the door and she said, "mommy, I need you."  So I went right in.

But she climbed out and started acting silly.  I made the mistake of trying to lift her into her bed as I was in a seated position on the floor beside her bed.  I immediately felt a pull in my low belly - I freaked out...I haven't packed for the hospital yet and my report cards aren't done yet :)

SR did go to sleep right after I convinced her to climb back in bed...and my belly stopped hurting and the baby has been kicking a lot.  Luckily I have an u/s tomorrow afternoon.  I just hope that SR doesn't come out of bed while I'm sleeping...that will really scare me.

I'm wondering if she was wired b/c I gave her 5 chocolate chips before bed - I've now started bribing her for success on the potty.  And not only was she successful, but before her bath, she ASKED ME if she could make a pee on the potty...and she did!  So after her bath I gave her the 5 chocolate chips!

And now it's almost 10pm and I haven't really done any report card work....oh well...guess it's not such a priority after all :)

I've been doing my best to keep up with my blog reading, through my cell phone, but I just rarely turn on my computer and so blogging keeps taking a back seat - even though I have so much to update.

I thought I'd just drop a few photos to update on the past few weeks since my last blog.

Quick milestone - SR learned to jump - both feet off the ground and land back on her feet!

It was a super warm day and we were heading outside to play - SR comes running to me wearing a fleece winter hat (that is not her regular hat) and carrying her "purse" and said, "Mommy, I'm ready to go!"  I was just laughing so hard - what a fashion statement!

Long weekend this weekend - spent today, Monday - at the petting zoo - Since I'll be out of commission most of the summer, I want to give SR some of the extras I won't get to do with her this summer.  She loves feeding the animals lettuce.

So now that we are all caught up - I have a few weeks left to go with work and my pregnancy.  I am swamped - the grade 3 testing starts a week tomorrow - I still have 3 math units to finish (as I am teaching them at the same time), and review to do with my students.  Not to mention I really want to finish my report cards early just in case, but that would involve having time to get through my units.  Plus, I have to pack up my classroom completely as I will be gone for an entire school year.  And I come home to play with and take care of my wonderful toddler and clean up and do my nesting and organizing.  And by the time evening rolls around, I can only sit on my couch and play Candy Crush Saga and then climb into bed to read (for pleasure, I always make time for that).
