OB appointment and my cervix

This past week I had my OB appointment.  At least it wasn't a 2 hour wait...just an hour and a half this time. I brought marking with me, but it turned out that all the pregnant ladies in the waiting room were teachers too, so we just talked a lot.

I finally got in to see my OB - the appointments are very fast so I got right to all of my questions.  I told him my cervix at 16 weeks was measuring 3.2cm.  We know I shorten early.  He told me the ideal measurement for right now is 3.5cm, so I'm already a little shorter than the average.  I told him that I have done some research about taking progesterone and for now I'm not going to take it any more - I already took it for 12 weeks and then once a day after my last appointment with him 4 weeks earlier, so 16 weeks.  I don't want to take a chance that my potentially baby boy could have the hyperspadias (sp?) that may or may not be linked to progesterone.  I may have already done the damage.  He said that was fine.  I also reminded him that after my 20 week scan he will set me up with the high risk doctor at the hospital to monitor my cervix shrinkage.

This coming week I am supposed to get my IPS results - downs and spina bifida screening.  I have two appointments, one for Wed. morning and one for Friday after work.  I think I'm going to cancel the Wed. morning.  Why should I haul SR out of bed an hour earlier and drop her at "school" an hour earlier when I can just go after work on Friday?  I just need to remember to call and cancel.

I'm going to go and relax for a bit.

My throat is still so sore - I feel like I've been sick for ages.  I think my place is too dry.

  1. Things are moving along! I hope you are feeling better now--I've had one cold after another ever since my bout with the flu, so I know what you mean. (Of course it's worse when you are pregnant. Hang in there!)

  2. Oh no I hope you are feeling better now. I have had the worse experience with sinus and cold stuff while pregnant. I am always bad with sinus stuff but I actually had a saliva gland close up and swell from a sinus infection in December.
