My mom was over tonight while I gave Scarlett her bath. I was washing her while she played and Scarlett likes to talk to me while she bathes. She started by saying "back" while I washed her back. Then she said, "ina" pronounced "eye-na". My mom asked me what she was saying. I said to Scarlett, "no, we wash your vagina at the end of the bath." My mom said, "why don't you say privates?" I told her that it is only when we don't use the proper language that it becomes an uncomfortable word and that of course I would use the correct name of the body part.
In other news, tomorrow is CD3 - I begin my monitoring for my transfer cycle :)
Also, my vertigo has been absolutely terrible today. I'm sure it is linked to my period. Hoping tomorrow is a better day.
I agree with using proper language. I had to educate my Mom as Elena has started to explore herself & my mom said, "Don't touch, Dirty!" I do not want Elena to think her vagina is dirty nor do I want her think it's dirty to touch it!! My mom asked what she should say & I said, "Tell her to wash her hands 1st"

ReplyDeleteI pondered about what to call it as on one hand I am trying to raise her in English, but on the other hand wasn't sure about vagina. So I decided to go here with the Hebrew - pot which if you are using the "potty" for peeing, isn't it just logical that the organ that pees would be called "pot"? lol.
ReplyDelete[oh, and yes, pot in Hebrew is vagina. Now try being an English teacher in Israel and teach these young kids the word pot. Oh the giggles..]
