What else is there to do at 1:56 am?l

SR is sick...and so while we are waiting for this latest round of Advil to kick in, and SR is lying in my bed watching Diego, and I have the school macbook at home, I thought I'd finally take the opportunity to blog.

You may find this ridiculous, but when she woke up (after me only getting an hour and a half of sleep), and I needed to give her new medicine, I asked her if she wanted a new diaper...and yes, she did, but only if she could have her figurine, Abby (Cadabby from Sesame Street).  Abby is not her usual figurine of choice - usually Dora, Boots, Boots Mommy (made up name by SR), Boots Balloons (also made up by SR), then Ernie and Bert.  And of course, she wants Abby who is in her "purse" (an old purse of mine that I don't use)...and of course I have no idea where her purse is.  And there we are at 1:30 am on Friday night looking everywhere for her purse...and if I even suggested that we take another figurine or just change her diaper, well the cries of a sick two year old started.  And of course the purse was not anywhere it should be....it was under the TV unit.  And when I finally went to change her diaper, I realized it was perfectly dry (due to slight dehydration from SR being sick) and so we didn't change her diaper at all.  I'm happy to say SR is chugging back water now while watching Diego.

SR has definitely been going through her Terrible Twos...even though she has a full vocabulary and has often spoken sentences 12 words long and has complete conversations, she will still throw temper tantrums when she doesn't want to do something.

She's also decided that she HATES to share her toys...she goes to "school" and I know she can share toys - although if I'm around and someone touches what she has, she freaks out.  We had a playdate recently and SR cried (tears pouring down her face) for the first 30 minutes every time her friend touched her toys.  I eventually had to bribe her and her friend with snack to calm her down.  After that, her friend was allowed to play with any toy he wanted to and she happily chased him around the condo.

I've been on March Break this week - it has been productive but not a lot of fun for SR and me mostly due to her getting sick Wednesday (probably caught something at "school" on Tuesday - the one day I had to send her) and it lasting and getting worse until where we are now, Friday night/Saturday morning.

My dad and I organized bins and bins of clothes, separating the girls/boys/gender neutral.  I also bought a second-hand double stroller - one that I wanted and was going to purchase new.  I know it's early still, but the deal was too good to pass up.  It had to be this specific stroller b/c it's light weight and will fit into my small Ford Focus.

I also had my first cervical u/s at the hospital.  We are tracking my cervix through the pregnancy like we did with SR b/c it shortened early then and pregnancies can mimic each other.  At 23 weeks, my cervix is measuring 2.8 cm, which is just below the 3.0 mark where it really should not be below.  The specialist is confident that he doesn't need to see me until I'm 28 weeks (5 more weeks) and then he will see me every two weeks or more often as needed.  Hopefully he's right.  Last time he tracked me every three weeks, but he said that b/c I was okay last time I should be okay this time as well.

And now it's 2:07am...hoping SR starts to feel better soon - by tomorrow.  I feel bad asking my parents to watch her on Monday but also because she's really unwell.  The Pediatrician said it's a virus but to bring her back in this weekend if the fever persists.  What worries me is that the fever has been getting progressively higher since Wednesday.  It was off and on Wed. and Thurs. but today, Friday it was constant and getting higher all day and night.  And SR didn't eat most of the day - so unlike her.  She finally had a piece of bread with egg on it and some kiwi for dinner.

Okay, SR is now in bed...I am too, but I should be sleeping.  I'm a little worried I'm going to catch this cold/cough/fever virus from SR and I really don't want to be taking medicine right now.  Plus I have to be at work.

So many more things to share...I really don't blog often enough.  Most of the time I think to myself, "Oh, I have to blog about this..." and then I don't, and the idea is gone.  Really, it's usually just anecdotes of SR that make me smile.

I'm going to try to sleep.

  1. I hope SR gets well soon and that you manage to stay well. I also hope that your cervix behaves and lets that baby stay in for the whole pregnancy.

  2. Ugh it's so hard when they are sick - both Fiona and Carys had a similar virus in Feb (bad cough, fever, no appetite). Glad to hear you are doing well - I hope your pregnancy stays uneventful!

  3. Sounds like the same thing Elena's been fighting. & it sucks!!! We seem to just keep passing back & forth between myself, Elena & my mom. It's been weeks!!' But this week is the 1st Elena spiked a fever. Dr also told us it was just a virus. Hope SR gets better soon & that you don't get sick.
