First of all, I made it to MARCH BREAK! I can't believe it...this year is just draining me. Not to mention SR has been having night terrors....moaning and calling out "mommy mommy" in her sleep. I jump out of bed and run to her, only to find she is sound asleep. Some nights this happens repeatedly. This makes for a very tired mommy. Especially when it takes me an hour to fall back asleep...this does give me a chance to read some of your blogs...I'm sorry I don't reply to everyone. It is just too hard to type in my cell phone - actually the hard part is the verification code and if I forget a letter or number and try to scroll up my phone won't type anymore....so it's easier to read and stay updated than to type...especially at 4am. But I am following you all :)
For the past 22 weeks (less 2 I guess b/c the first two weeks are before the transfer) I have remained incognito at work - I wear hoodies and down-filled vests over top every day. I recently told the staff at my school, but have kept the students in the dark. I figured they would assume I was just getting bigger as my hoodies are my small sized shirts and my belly is getting bigger :)
Today, the last day of school before March Break, I did my big reveal. I read the same book to the students that I read when I told my class that I was pregnant with SR. "Our Teacher is Having a Baby." I started our day with this book. There were a lot of giggles and I thought they were on to me. I also wore a regular sweater today but wore a vest over top for the morning. At the end of the story I asked the students why they thought I had chosen that book today. CLUELESS!!! I think they guessed 10-15 things before one of them finally asked if I was having a baby.
Once they found out, they were VERY excited. There were LOTS of questions and comments. One student asked if I was married (which most of them know that I am not, as I have told them many times that my family is a mommy and baby family). I said that I wasn't and the student questioned further. I simply said that a doctor helped me and that the rest was only my business :)
By recess the entire student population knew...by lunch, the parent volunteers for pizza lunch knew. LOL...who knew 8 and 9 year olds would be so gossipy :)
Now at least I have a week off to just be with SR....and we have a busy week - programs and appointments and shopping and other stuff away from school stress. I will post an SR update later this week. I also have a high-risk u/s on Tuesday so I get a new baby photo during my cervix check.
Curious little kids aren't they...lol. You handled it very well. In answer to your comment yes I was with PC, but no longer, I told them where they could shove their card. I can't believe they get away with this stuff.
ReplyDeleteHow did I totally miss your post about the baby being a BOY until today?! Glad to hear that everyone at school is excited, and the reveal went well!
ReplyDeleteKids are too funny. Glad the reveal went well. I don't think I said Congrats yet on having a boy. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteAhh... poor baby (and poor mama for the lack of sleep). I hope this is only temporary. Good Luck.
:-)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great time this week!
Elena's been having night terrors too! I feel so bad for her!
ReplyDeleteGlad the reveal went well! Enjoy march break!!!
Night terrors are the worst! Thankfully, they are truly developmental and do disappear with time.
ReplyDeleteOh, when I was NINE months pregnant, I introduced the substitute (who was in to observe that day) to the class. One of the boys, asked "Why do you need a sub? Are you going somewhere?"
I can't believe you were able to hide it that long! Though clearly kids that age have lots of questions, but aren't terribly observant. LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope you both have a lovely spring break!
