Monday was Family Day in Ontario.  Scarlett and I had a very nice day.  This is her at the library before we went into the program.

I'm very tired tonight and I still have so much to do (wash lunch dishes, prepare my fruit for breakfast, turn on the dishwasher, do my marking), but I wanted to blog for a few minutes.

I am enjoying every aspect of being Scarlett's mom.  She just delights me.  She has a wonderful sense of humour and seems to get when things are funny.  Now she's just picking up words and signs at an incredible speed.  I don't think I can teach her fast enough.  Yesterday I took my boots out of the closet to put them on and Scarlett said "Boooo"....she knew they were boots without any prompting from me.  Then she gets so proud of herself when I cheer for her.

She has a terrific signing vocabulary that keeps growing, although since so many signs involve both hands touching, many look the same.  There have been many signs that I didn't even know she knew how to sign and she is suddenly doing them.  I guess watching me for so many months has really paid off.

I'm always thinking to myself "I have to remember to blog about this..."  But when the time comes to sit down here at the computer, I don't remember exactly what I wanted to say.  Two more weeks until March Break and then I can pull her out of daycare and spend time with her.  I want to take her to programs like we did on mat leave...I want to watch her as she listens to songs and stories like I did on Family Day.

Oh, one more thing...at daycare the babies "painted" pictures of their families.  There on the wall next to all the paintings of babies with their parents is the painting of Scarlett and her mommy.  I felt so proud of our little family.  Proud to be displayed for everyone to see...Scarlett and her mommy....Our Family!

  3. She's beautiful. And wow, she is SMART! That's awesome that you've been doing so much signing. It must be so much fun right now with her (spoken and signed) vocabulary growing so fast!
